Zoo Zlín is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Czech Republic and is the country’s second most popular zoo. It is spread across a beautiful natural setting with walk-through aviaries and modern exhibits, and also features the fairy-tale Lešná Chateau.
One of its greatest attractions is the first rescue and breeding centre for lions in the Czech Republic. The current lion pride lives in a spacious half-hectare enclosure with varied terrain, quiet resting areas and a pond. The centre also provides a safe home for lions confiscated from private breeders where they lived in unsuitable or even illegal conditions. Along a new visitor trail with two viewing platforms, you will not only reach these majestic cats but also the enclosure of African elephants.

Another highlight is the longest vulture aviary in the Czech Republic, where you can observe these magnificent birds of prey being fed at close range. You can stroll through Mu-Shin, the largest Japanese garden, explore the new Gibonika exhibit of silvery gibbons, discover India’s Kerala with its rich wetland birdlife, or step into the tropics in the Yucatan Hall.
If you seek even more intense experiences, you can become a keeper for a day, come face to face with meerkats, capybaras or penguins, join a guided tour with a keeper, or even experience an unforgettable night at the zoo.
Children can also enjoy plenty of attractions and fun here – they can let off steam in the rope labyrinth, climb the lookout tower and experience adventure on the Tree-Top Walkway or in the Rope Centre. Another popular experience is a ride on the miniature train, which takes you through selected parts of the grounds. Throughout the year, the zoo offers a lively programme filled with events and activities for visitors of all ages.
