A rock formation hidden in the forest, views of the city and the option of roasting sausages – all this is offered by the route to Uriášův kámen and the viewpoint known as Na Kopci, which follows paved tracks, forest paths and field roads.
We set off from the Zlín district of Paseky, which can be reached by public transport bus no. 33. We get off at the Paseky, hřiště stop or at the terminus Paseky, točna, and head towards the picturesque Chapel of the Virgin Mary. The original wooden chapel stood here from 1896 to 1935, after which it was rebuilt in its current masonry form and renovated in 2023. During the season, its surroundings are enhanced by beautifully blooming flower beds. The bell in the chapel is original – during the Second World War, local residents hid it in a nearby barn to prevent its confiscation. Next to the chapel stands a cross from 1893, whose base is decorated with porcelain portraits of local residents who fell in the First World War.
From the chapel, we continue uphill along the pavement across Pod Horkou Street to the edge of the forest and then along a forest track towards Mezihoří. After about 100 metres, we turn left onto a path along Pasecký stream. A gentle ascent leads us approximately 800 metres to a junction in a clearing. Here we turn left, after which the forest path bends right towards a rocky track. We follow this to the right for the final ascent to the Uriášův kámen – a rock formation in the Mladcovské hills, about 180 cm high, offering breathtaking views of Zlín and the surrounding hills. Nearby, you can enjoy a small picnic or roast sausages at the fire pit.
From the summit, we return to the rocky track and continue towards the edge of the forest, where another viewpoint opens up, offering views of the city and the surrounding hills. From here, we descend along a field path to the road and continue past family homes to the end of the street at the Na Kopci viewpoint. A well-trodden footpath will lead you back to Paseky.
Before heading down, however, we have one more tip for you: turn right beyond the last house and cross the meadow. After a few metres you will come across a wooden bench, and behind it a narrow path runs among the trees. This will lead you to a final viewpoint with another fire pit and a beautiful view of Zlín.
