Kabinet T. Gallery is a place where you can discover contemporary art within the industrial setting of the Zlín’s factory complex. Located in Building No. 12 of the former Baťa works, it brings together the work of Czech and international artists. Kabinet T. is not only an exhibition space, but also a place where new projects are created. It focuses on discovering talent, exploring compelling visual forms and seeking new ways of presenting contemporary art.
Since 2008, Kabinet T. has operated as an artistic platform for painting, printmaking, sculpture and video projections. The gallery presents solo and thematic exhibitions, experimental formats, international collaborations and projects that connect different generations and artistic approaches.
Kabinet T. is more than an exhibition hall. It is a space open to meeting, reflection and sharing. Exhibitions are accompanied by guided tours, lectures, film screenings and educational programmes for the public and schools. The gallery thus brings contemporary art closer to a wider audience.
Kabinet T. Gallery was founded in Zlín in 2008 by Lenka Tutschová, thereby continuing a family tradition. The gallery's name incorporates a monogram referencing collector and gallerist Karel Tutsch, and its curatorial concept builds on the legacy of the legendary Brno gallery Na bidýlku, renowned for its distinctive programme. Karel Tutsch was able to connect artists across generations and create space for exceptional projects – an approach that Kabinet T. continues to develop.
Since its establishment, the gallery has presented the work of dozens of artists from across Europe and has also long provided space for young and emerging artists. Artists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, Poland and Switzerland have exhibited here. Its long-term activity confirms the gallery’s firm and respected position on the Zlín regional art scene.
The gallery also functions as a project space, hosting experimental and international projects alongside regular exhibitions. It provides room for installations, multimedia works and various interdisciplinary and collective projects. In addition to solo and group exhibitions, the gallery regularly organises an accompanying programme of guided tours, educational activities, film screenings, lectures and discussions.
Over the years, it has showcased artists from different generations and countries. In earlier years, exhibitors included Igor Korpaczewski, Eva Koťátková and German artist Max Leiß. More recently, this line has been continued by Denisa Langrová, Pavel Humhal, Gábor Kristóf, Tereza Jobová and Ruta Putramentaite, among others. The selection of exhibiting artists thus reflects the breadth of the gallery’s interests – from established figures to new and distinctive voices in contemporary art.
