Cycling

The Zlín surroundings offer 23 kilometres of cycle paths and many recreational circuits in forested hills north and south of the town. You can choose according to the difficulty (up to 20 km, 20-50 km and more than 50 km) or the destination. You can start for the Zlín Zoo and then Lukov or go to Otrokovice, from where you can reach the Baťa Canal and Kroměříž. Directly in Zlín, the so-called Municipal Service Cycle Path is currently being completed. It will offer a five-kilometre route along T. Baťa Avenue from the Albert hypermarket (the former Interspar) through Náměstí Práce and Náměstí Míru square to Podvesná XVII Street and T. Baťa Regional Hospital.

Other cycle paths are being planned:

• A mixed path for walkers and cyclists to Tyršovo nábřeží Street (U Máců - Rybníky) including bridge underpasses. The path will be about 1.7 km long and will be built between 2016 and 2017. Because of heavy traffic and a lack of space at U Máců junction, the cycle path will run under Cigánov Bridge. There is a similar situation in Čepkov. The town is successfully negotiating this construction with Povodí Moravy, s.p.
• Connection of Jižní Svahy from Baťa's residence by Družstevní Street. The path will be 0.3 km long and will be built in 2016.
• A path through Slunečná St., along Okružní St. and through Centrální park. It will be 0.9 km long and will be built in 2016 or 2017. The existing pavements, which will be broadened in narrow areas, will be partly used.
• At present, plans for the construction of a bike path from Zlín to Vizovice are coming alive again. If the project is realized, it could be finished by 2020.
